Dear Mr. Stapleton,

Boy is this ever late and very after the fact, but my sister N sent me your address – I put it in my briefcase and that is where it stayed! I apologize.

My brother, R and I, were in Boston to visit my Mother, M.G., on April 19th, which we did not realize, til [sic] we got there that was a holiday. We have never been to Sherrill House, arrived separately, were distressed it was a local holiday, and we wouldn’t get to see your administrator.

I don’t know what we expected to see, but what we did see, were clean and dressed residents out of their rooms (it was close to lunch), my mothers room was spotless, and I went snooping around to look at other rooms, and they all were clean + spotless. It helped put us at ease.

May thanks to your staff – we were impressed.

Sincerely,

A.G.

My sister Nancy of NancyRosetta Jewelry and I have been spending time looking at sub-acute short term rehab facilities for my mom, who recently suffered a stroke. One particular place had some unique features that other places did not have, such as art on the walls. I'm not talking about your typical overly soft, fluorescent-light-bleached garden-scene prints. I'm talking about real original artwork. Original paintings. Beautiful, textured, inspiring, intricate, well-thought-out, fun-to-look-at-for-more-than-two-seconds artwork. (Fun to look at for ten-minutes-straight artwork!) We were blown away. This was an incredible thing! And, brilliant, too... what better place to house one of a kind, vibrant artwork on the walls than a place dedicated to rehabilitating people?

The organization that is responsible for this amazing program is called The Art Connection. They match and place original, donated-from-the-artist works of art into the hands of non-profit agencies. These range from homeless shelters to nursing facilities to temporary homes to offices serving community interests. It's a great way for an artists' work to be publicly enjoyed and appreciated, and it's an amazing opportunity to inspire creativity and positivity in places where people could really use the lift!

If I hadn't personally experienced first-hand the power of experiencing quality original works of art on the walls in front of me in the setting of the rehabilitation facility, I may never have really deeply understood the importance of this organization and connected to it in this way. But I did, and I do. I plan on donating to The Art Connection, and I hope others will consider donating, as well.

Dear Friends,

We would like to send you our thanks for the exceptional care that you provided my father for the last year. It has been our privilege to know the members of your staff and the skilled nurses who cared for my father. We appreciate the dedication that each person has shown with the patients, the family members, and with each other.

We would like to recognize, in particular, Patrick Stapleton who helped us with all the details of my father’s stay at your Nursing Center. He was very attentive and understanding of our situation, which he handled with empathy and care.

Sincerely,

C.N.

Just a token “thank you” for my 9 month stay at “the House”. I enjoyed the patio so much when “the girls” took me out to see the flowers.

To the Sherrill House Staff:

Thank you for your professionalism, caring and thoughtfulness- my mom only spent a few days in your facility, however, those few days/nights were the “best” for me and my mom. You were all so wonderful to us. I would recommend Sherrill House to anyone seeking a caring, clean place for their loved ones. I love you all and “God Bless!”

Patrick and Jeannie, thank you! I truly love you both.

Dear Patrick,

I know some time has passed since my aunt was at the Sherrill House. I didn’t want too much time to go by to thank you and your staff for the compassionate care you offered my aunt in her last days. I appreciate all you folks do and you can always count on my friendship and support.

Best,

J.S.

Blessings on you all and my sincere and immense gratitude to all of you and the great gang on the first floor. Thanks to all of you for the care and the affection which you gave and which helped her to have not just a good ending but a good life during the last five years.

That’s a huge gift and I only hope that when my time comes I’ll be able to receive such good caring.

I just want to thank you sincerely for all you did over the years taking care of my Aunt and making her time at Sherrill House so much more comfortable. You all made Room 400 a “home”…I always felt that all of her needs were met and never worried that she wanted or needed anything that she could not get from her caregivers (at Sherrill House.) I think that she always felt she was well taken care of and that you were all her friends as well as her caregivers…Thanks again for all you did for her.

Dear Patrick:

As the initial impact of the trauma of our dear sister S’s passing wanes, we are attempting to readjust our lives without her presence. We shall never forget or be able to express our heartfelt appreciation for the extraordinary care and love provided by you and your dedicated staff. Her residence at Sherrill House was truly a blessing for her remaining days; in

retrospect we know that her life was enriched by being a part of your warm loving family.

The tremendous representation of the Sherrill House staff at S’s wake and their expressions of condolence and prayer shall be imbedded our hearts forever,

The personal attention and concern of Brad Burkart, Iona Russell and Olympia for S’s needs throughout her confinement were over and above the call of duty.

We bless you and all your associates.

With Gratitude and Eternal Love,

T.M. & H. M.

Dear Everyone:

B’s daughter M. and I want to thank you so much for your lovely card and for your kindness and support during his last days. You made things so comfortable for him – and for us – and your daily assistance with food and attention was more than thoughtful.

I will always be grateful for the care and affection you gave to B. during the year he spent with you and I hope you know how it helped me do my part to contribute to his life.

Love,

C.

Dear Mr. Stapleton:

I don't know how you manage to have such good staff . Mary is one of the most competent ,caring and loving nurse I have ever seen All other nurses are very good too, but something about Mary's personality sets her apart. Not only she is smart and competent but, also she is very tuned into each patient under her care.

In addition to good care it is nice to have carpeted corridors, drapes in the rooms and very clean environment. I am amazed how often they bathe my dad and change his clothes. He always smells clean and Fred and Yolanda shave him every day which makes him very happy.

Originally my dad came in for a very short stay while we were waiting for an opening at another facility. After a week stay we noticed how much more comfortable he felt at Sherrill House and decided to keep him here long term.

Every day I thank God for the good fortune of finding Sherrill House.

I come to see my dad every day and already have recommended many people to Sherrill House. I have been stopped at the lobby and the parking lot by family members who were shopping for Nursing home and on every occasion I told them SHERRILL HOUSE IS THE BEST!

Many thanks to all of you.

Dear Patrick:

We are writing to express our sincere thanks and deep gratitude for the exceptional care our Dad and our family received from everyone at Sherrill House. We have been trying to think of ways to adequately express this sentiment, but there are none. So, knowing that words fall short of meeting our goal, please accept this modest gesture of gratitude. We also want to bring specific attention to some of the incredible people who made Dad's last years as happy and comfortable as possible. We have many good memories of times spent with Dad at Sherrill House and many from being able to bring him home for family celebrations over the past 3 years (and having been able to-do that was nothing short of a miracle performed by his can teams over and over). Please accept our apologies in advance for names inadvertently emitted.

Subacute Floor

Sharon, Jennifer, Renell, Denise, Kathy, Guyle, Theresa, Doris, Carol, Sandra, Constance, Adrian, Jamie, Sean, Karen, Kylie, Christine, and the rest of our friends in nursing, rehab, nutrition and the kitchen (Dad loved his food, and they always accommodated)

Longterm Care_Floor

Maxine, Jim, Stephanie, Theresa, Marie, Nixsa, Nicole, Fred, Maria, Jamie, Sean, Karen, Kylie, and again, the rest of our friends in nursing, rehab, nutrition, recreation and the kitchen

Dementia Unit

Iona, Brad, Monica, Luce, Abu, Agnes, Guyle, Edmonde, Glenn, Ebe, Denise, Norma, Erin, Lucy, and finally, the rest of our friends in nursing, rehab, nutrition, recreation, music therapy, and the kitchen.

One specific example of Sherrill House's commitment to excellent total care of a patient and his family that has to be mentioned is the accommodations made to allow Erin to come to the North Shore to officiate Dad's services, The bond we developed with Erin during Dad's time at Sherrill House was amazing, and the celebration of his life would not have been complete without her. Family who knew our friends at Sherrill House were so touched to have her there; it really completed the journey. And, those not as present during Dad's last years were so impressed by Erin's ability to speak beautifully about his life and pay such a wonderful tribute to his memory.

You have forever changed our lives, and we will remember you all always.

With deepest gratitude,

Kim and Matthew D.
