Dialysis Den

HOME > Dialysis Den

During our last Strategic Planning process, we identified the need for an on-site Dialysis Den. This was put on hold during the pandemic, which also highlighted the critical need for this service. By late 2022, in response to the transportation crisis in the healthcare industry, the conversation was front and center at Sherrill House. The transportation crisis has created significant challenges for dialysis patients to receive care. Individuals are taking taxis, Ubers, and even being driven to treatment by loved ones, creating dangerous environments for patients. A Dialysis Den is a “satellite” center located within a skilled nursing facility and acts as a solution to ensure patients receive treatment in a safer, timelier manner. We are partnering with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and fundraising to build an on-site Dialysis Den, right here at Sherrill House. This will ensure that our residents receive critical treatment here, where they are comfortable and where they will not have to undergo the ambulance rides and waiting associated with off-site treatment.
